The ballots are in and the Moonshine Theater on Adams Avenue has a new name — The Leonard.
Recently, the long-closed theater hosted an event titled “Renaming the Moonshine,” where guests were asked to vote on a new name for the venue. Of the 10 names considered, The Leonard won out in the end over The Anthracite Theater.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, The Leonard will host a Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce mixer. The theater, which was purchased in April by Charles Jefferson and his investment group, Jefferson-Werner LLC, will host special events during the coming months as renovations continue on the building’s facade and interior. An official opening is slated for the spring.
